For one of my assignments for my art class I wanted to play with silhouettes and thought I’d try one of Vahaadi in a window looking out into the desert sky. Even though this IS supposed to be Vahaadi and I initially intended it to just be a pretty, meaningless thing, I was struck by how much this design looked like a Christmas card picturing one of the three kings. I even thought I’d continue the series with two other “kings” representing Asia and Africa.
But, I still like the idea that this is Vahaadi wondering at the sign of a new star, heralding the birth of a Savior worlds away. Vahaadi’s not so old that he would have been alive at the time of Christ’s birth, but…the imagery comforts me.
“You may be the only taste of my love Vahaadi will ever know. And I love him.
Did you think you were the only one who does?”
The title is from one of my absolute favorite Christmas songs, How Many Kings.

so beautiful! I’m glad he can find moments of reflection in his restlessness
