I don’t have a lot to type here, other than when I looked at my notes I realized I had named Piper either Phifer or Luter… If we don’t want to stick with Lucien… anyway, here she is. I had a drawing of Piper holding her, but it looked so awful compared to your gorgeous drawing of him with a child I could’t bring myself to upload it. It was a little uncanny though because the poses were exactly the same.
Since we’re not having the world be Neverland exactly, instead of having them wear animal suits like the lost boys, can they wear little whiskers and ears and masks and be dressed as little rats? Like the ones he lead out of town in the folklore? Or is that too weird? This was the only good idea I got from looking at my Monster High/Ever After High versions of Melodia XD
Also, when I was thinking about Piper the other day (when I mused about the whole ‘you should be thanking me,’ bit) I drew some Krissy/Spark
- I just drew this one today. The others are old, before I imagined Spark and Melodia in the same space. I tried to revise her to see if they’d mesh well at all. I need to tweak her look though, as she appears too much like Andrayia in these pictures. “Vati” is the name for ‘daddy’ in Hamelin.
- Suitable for a flashback scene maybe?
- dressessssssss. I never draw stuff like this. You can tell I was sick.
- I like his design but he is lacking all the charisma we want him to have.
- This is my favorite picture of her, but I don’t know if having her be 14 would make any sense in Loose Canon.
- I think this was the picture you were remembering. She loves music, but it’s hard to know if that was a natural joy or Piper’s Enchanting.

Ahahaha, well, it’s not the most original pose ever…but I’m glad you liked it! I had a few ideas for pics of Piper (Phifer/Luter/Lucien) interacting with Ditty at various ages, I will try to draw them sometime.
I’m struggling to understand why dressing them as rats sits better with you than dressing them as myriad animals. I was thinking having them dress as a bunch of different animals would visually be more interesting, would make the piper’s bird/plague doctor mask less random, and would create parallels to several different kinds of stories–Peter Pan and the lost boys for starters, but also to Pinocchio as you pointed out, and the large assortment of other stories about characters being cursed into animal shapes (Six Swans, The Raven, “East of the Sun and West of the Moon”, the Frog Prince, etc etc etc etc). I know you’re opposed to me “jacking” the story of Peter Pan, but I don’t see it that way. I’m just using it as a launchpad for ideas. I feel what I’m aiming for is like Princess Tutu, where you recognize elements of numerous different things but, all together, the result is very different from the original, and the parallels make it more meaningful. Most people wouldn’t think to put Swan Lake and The Ugly Duckling together, but when you see it in princess Tutu, it fits.
I was just going to ask what Ditty might call him! Vati sounds cute. A little weird to me, though, because it sounds a bit like Vahaadi and there’s a Zelda villain named Vaati. XD But “dad” would sound very strange, and “father” sounds so formal it almost seems forced. She looks so happy! It is peculiar to see Spark be the angry one.
“You can tell I was sick” XD Designing clothes is an indication of illness?
I like your design too! It is much more…true to the real thing than mine, I think. Mine feels very modern, World-of-Warcraft-y, I think…which I like, but I don’t think I have nearly as strong an attachment to the “trufax” legend version of him. I didn’t even think to put him in a stocking cap.
We can certainly make her 14 if that’s how you like her best.
YES. THAT IS THE PICTURE. An intriguing question…but, does it really matter? It’s hard to know whether talents/interests are a product of nature or nurture, even when you remove mind-control from the equation…
If Piper and Spark do have this kind of confrontation, I see a problematic potential hypocrisy. How will we resolve her stance that warping reality is wrong, while letting her keep her djinni and her superpowers? It seems if we go this route, we’re obligated to end the story with her letting Vahaadi die and losing or giving up her powers, and NOT getting either back. Seeing her resolved face as Krissy makes me wonder about exploring her being a hero without powers. Not saying we should do it, just throwing it out on the table.
I would love to see that!
As long as it’s recognizable that we’re referrencing Peter Pan I think it would be okay, but I just liked using only rats because it keeps it more exclusive to the pied piper story. But I do like the way Tutu used elements from different stories… the thing about that though is that the entire show feels somewhat like a dream in a way, whereas we want Loose Canon to feel more real, at least I think we do? Or did you want Piper’s Land to have a more psuedo-reality feel?
She is happy, I think, until she is confronted with the hallowness of her own words. Up until now Piper’s kept her pretty isolated. She’s never had the chance to be ‘grilled’ by someone like Spark. Although she plays it off well at the time, Spark plants some pretty serious doubts in Ditty’s heart.
Hahah we do not have to use the ‘trufax’ version of him; honestly I think that might be *too* jarring against ultra modern Spark/Krissy.
It’s how I like her best for my headcanon, but I think for Loose Canon we should do whatever suits the story best. But if being 14 is best, then that would be nice. We need to figure out what we’re even doing with her. I want to hear your Kraehe musings!
“even when you remove mind control from the equation” <-- it's kind of awesome and kind of awful that this even makes sense in a sentence. I think the loophole here is that Piper never meant for Krissy to find Vahaadi. He sent the monster to cause destrucion, but even if he was aware of the lamp inside the beast, he certainly never thought anyone would find it. When Spark did and she wished for her powers it was completely off Piper's radar until she suddenly shows up trying to fight him. So even if he tries to take credit for it in retrospect, that whole "you should be thanking me," angle, Spark can eventually figure out that he had nothing to do with her and Vahaadi coming together, but it was fate or providence or destiny or whatever. I think that it's kind of a nice way of showing that even in an evil situation good can prevail. So I think she can keep her powers, and use her and Vahaadi as an example of why Piper shouldn't be playing god; things happen that are out of his control even when he thinks everything is going "precisely as scripted."
